Easy Chickpea Burger

  • 1 1/2 cups sweet potato (peeled and grated)
  • 2 cups canned chickpeas (drain and rinse)
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tbs fresh lime juice
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten
  • herbs and/or spices based on taste preference


  • Place all of the ingredients into a food processor and pulse until chickpeas look coarsely ground.
  • Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into 1/2' thick burger patties.
  • Heat oil in a non-stick skillet until browned on each side. Use a low to medium heat and this should take 3-4 minutes per side


One teaspoon of a finely chopped jalapeno pepper is a great addition to this recipe, or cajun spice mix is another tasty option.
