Easy Guinness Beef Stew

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 lb beef chuck
  • 3 cloves garlic , minced
  • 2 cups sweet onion , roughly chopped
  • 2 cups mushrroms
  • 6 slices bacon, sliced into small strips
  • 1 cup carrots
  • 1 cup celery , rough cut
  • 3 tbsp all- purpose flour
  • 1 can guinness beer
  • 4 tbsp tomatoe paste
  • 3 cups beef stock
  • 2 cups baby potatoes cut in half
  • 3 sprigs tyhme
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper


  • First off cut the beef into small chunks and then pat dry and sprinkle salt and pepper over them
  • heat oil in a skillet and cook over a high heat now place the beef in and cook until the meat is brow and then place on a plate until needed
  • now add garlic , onion and mushrroms in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 mins
  • after that add bacon and cook the bacon until its brown which should be about 5 mins
  • now add carrots and celery
  • add flour to the pan and mix in well allow the mixture to cook for about 2-3 mins
  • now you can add the beer to deglaze the pan and get all the bits off the pan into the sauce
  • then add the beef stock and tomato paste
  • now you can add the beef back into the mixture along with potatoes and thyme
  • cover and reduce the heat to low heat and then let it stew for 2 hours if you are pressed for time you can boil the potatoes to save time
  • now you can add salt and pepper for taste and remove the the tyhme spriand enjoy this amazing stew
